We are aware that the husbandry facility of zebrafish is costly and sometimes it is difficult for researchers to produce high number and quality zebrafish embryos for their experiments. No worries! We can help you to save your time, money and energy! Danio Assay Laboratories Sdn. Bhd. provides zebrafish embryos and larvae through natural spawning. Beside, we are providers of laboratory zebrafish (wild-type short fin) at a wide range of age.

Zebrafish Maintenance

Keeping and raising of zebrafish stocks (wild-type short fin) in our facility is performed under permission of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Universiti Putra Malaysia. Adult zebrafish were maintained in an aquarium tank (1 fish/L) with continuous flowing water under temperature of approximately 25-28°C. Adult zebrafish were fed twice daily with brine shrimp salt, Artemia in the morning and dried flake food in the afternoon. The level of ammonia and pH of water were monitored frequently.

Zebrafish Natural Breeding & Embryo Collection
Adult zebrafish at a ratio of 2:1 female to male was placed into breeding tank with a recommended water of 1 Litre/fish in the evening prior to the day of breeding setup. Egg collector and artificial plant were positioned in the breeding tank. Evening set up for breeding zebrafish were under a fixed 14:10 hours light:dark cycle. In the next morning, zebrafish mating were occurred within 30 minutes after light was switch on. Embryos were collected from egg collector, washed three times and incubated in Embryo Media (EM) solution for approximately 1-2 hours. Dead/cogulated embryos were discarded and healthy fertilized embryos were selected and ready to be packed for delivery.
